Random Thoughts

1) I find it very odd that the McCain campaign has yet to spend a single dollar on advertising in Florida, a state that McCain absolutely must win if he wants to win the election. Could it be he thinks he has a trump card there that he's yet to play? Could it be that he's decided to pick Charlie Crist as his VP? Or maybe Joe Lieberman? If not, I have no idea what he's thinking.

2) Since war broke out in Georgia a few days ago, John McCain has been injecting himself into the situation to a degree I've never seen from a presidential candidate. He's been in constant contact with the Georgian President. He's been issuing bellicose statements that have overshadowed and at times stepped upon the official statements coming from our government. And he's claiming explicitly to speak "on behalf of all Americans." There's a word for that sort of behavior. I believe it's "presumptuous."

UPDATE: To underscore my second point, take a look at this McCain-worshipping post from John Hindraker at Powerline:
One of the most striking features of the crisis in Georgia has been the role played by John McCain. While President Bush was enjoying the Olympics and Barack Obama was on vacation in Hawaii, McCain became the leading international spokesman on behalf of Georgia. . . .

It has been an extraordinary moment, in which John McCain has seemed almost more the leader of the free world than the President.
Apparently that's a good think when you're a Republican candidate. But if you're a Democratic candidate and you, say, meet with foreign leaders, well that's terribly presumptuous. Who does Obama think he is?

1) Maybe he thinks/knows that voting procedures are rigged in enough Florida counties that he doesn't have to worry about the state.

2) I think the word is "desperate" to incite and connect to irrational American fears, desperate for a return to cold war days, desperate to look macho despite his age.

3) Speaking of macho, where is Vicky Iseman and what is she hiding?
