Andy McCarthy, a former federal prosecutor, shares this witty response to the Supreme Court's decision today:
McCarthy began another post today with this insanely overwrought statement:
An old government friend emails with a practical response to the Supreme Court:Ha ha ha. Yeah, let's kill them all. That'll show the Court. After all, they're clearly all guilty. Our government doesn't make mistakes.Let's free all Gitmo detainees...on a vast, deserted, open and contested Afghan battlefield. C-130 gunship circling overhead for security. Give them all a two minute running head start.

I was going out the door this morning when I learned about the Supreme Court ruling — that the American people had lost to radical Islam, 5 to 4.I wonder what it is about this subject that turns otherwise intelligent people into raving lunatics. I happen to know that McCarthy is an exceptionally smart person and an accomplished attorney. And yet something about this particular subject has reduced him to the equivalent of that crazy old guy in the bar. It's a sad spectacle.

Intelligent? Are you kidding? Even with my limited legal knowledge, I knew that Gitmo was untenable under the Constitution. How then could a lawyer, with years of training and experience, make such a fallacious conclusion?
Maybe it's the magical thinking. The IOKIYAR or IOKIYAC (Christian) that polluted our political and bureaucractic lives for the past near-decade. If there is no consequence for behavior, the behavior continues.

I've decided I don't give a flying shit about this pathetic one-quarter to one-third of our electorate.
Perhaps it's just the attack-dog in him, that overwhelms everything else.
Regardless, it's not important. What is important is that his position is simply misguided, for whatever reason, and now unconstitutional by definition. Thank god and Amen.

In a word, fear. Abject, pitiable, childish, fear. They are afraid. They walk around in the daytime looking over their shoulders, and they sleep at night with one eye open, waiting for a scary guy with a beard and a rag wrapped around his head to come at them with a flaming airplane. At them personally. They claim to be protecting their nation, but they are living in a sniveling, cringing fear for their own lives.
