The Yoo Memo

I wish I had more time to comment on the Yoo memo. There's so much to say. As I've said before, when future generations look back at this era in American history, I think their harshest criticism will be saved for the lawyers, the people like John Yoo and David Addington. And deservedly so. It's one thing to do things that you know are wrong. It's quite another to go to elaborate lengths to clothe wrongs in the language of righteousness. These men used their legal training and erudition to authorize and immunize conduct that was not only criminal but fundamentally contrary to long established American values. They not only authorized violations of the law; they made a mockery of it. History will not be kind to these men.
