An Open Letter to the President

Mr. President:

In a cabinet meeting on October 7, 2003, just after the CIA leak investigation began, you said the following:

I don't know if we're going to find out the
senior administration official. Now, this is a
large administration, and there's a lot of
senior officials. I don't have any idea. I'd
like to. I want to know the truth.

We now know that one of the two senior administration officials cited by Robert Novak in his now infamous column was none other than your longtime friend and chief political advisor, Karl Rove. And yesterday Mr. Novak had this to say about the other senior administration official:

"I'm confident the president knows who the
source is," Novak told a luncheon audience at
the John Locke Foundation in Raleigh on
Tuesday. "I'd be amazed if he doesn't."

"So I say, 'Don't bug me. Don't bug Bob
Woodward. Bug the president as to whether
he should reveal who the source is.' "

So Mr. President, I ask you, who is that senior administration official, and how long have you known? Do you stand by your claim that in October 2003 you were not aware that either this official or Mr. Rove were Novak's sources? If so, how and when did you come to learn this information? Was it before or after the November 2004 election? Did either of these officials mislead you about their involvement in this affair? If so, were they punished in any way? Given that both of these officials leaked classified information to a reporter and you promised to fire anyone found to have leaked classified information, why haven't these officials been fired (assuming they both still work for the administration)?

The American people would really appreciate answers to these questions, and we resent the fact that they have not been provided sooner (i.e. before we had to make the decision as to whether or not you deserved another four years in office).

Sincerely,

A.L.

Well you are just being ridiculous, wondering why Dubya has been less then ethical.
Ethical is an ancient Greek city located on the coast of
Denial, just west of Delusional, as far as they're concerned.
