What Does it Take to Get Fired?

On October 7, 2003, Scott McClellan said the following regarding the leaking of Valerie Plame's identity:
If someone leaked classified information, the
President wants to know. If someone in this
administration leaked classified information,
they will no longer be a part of this
administration, because that's not the way this
White House operates, that's not the way this
President expects people in his administration
to conduct their business.

The same day, the President said:
Listen, I know of nobody -- I don't know of
anybody in my administration who leaked
classified information. If somebody did leak
classified information, I'd like to know it, and
we'll take the appropriate action.

In his press conference on Friday, Patrick Fitzgerald said this:
Valerie Wilson was a CIA officer. In July 2003,
the fact that Valerie Wilson was a CIA officer
was classified. Not only was it classified, but it
was not widely known outside the intelligence
community.

So we know now, beyond a doubt, that Karl Rove leaked classified information to at least two journalists: Bob Novak and Matthew Cooper. Not only that, but he apparently lied about it to Scott McClellan and perhaps the President himself. Why does Karl Rove still have a job? What does it take to get fired in this administration?
Digg!

The CIA is 100,000 Union employees. They are too big to fire Plame and too political to rely on for votes.

Thanks! I had exactly the same thought this morning but got distracted & forgot to post it. I've now linked to your post.

(Although I think the argument is stronger if you leave out Novak -- Cooper is the one case where Rove indisputably leaked information that was classified at the time.)

"What does it take to get fired in this administration?"

that's simple! someone/anyone just has to come out and tell the truth any truth about why the adminstration was so intent on going to war against Iraq; or that Libby and Cheney and Rove indeed were a part of a conspiracy. any little bit of proof on these matters, and poof, you're escorted right out the door. and plesae be sure to leave your super-secret national security pass and the codes behind.

simple little truths can surely get you fired!
