Raw Story: Fitzgerald Seeks Indictments of Rove and Libby

Citing "lawyers close to the investigation," Raw Story is now reporting that Patrick Fitzgerald has asked the grand jury to indict both Karl Rove and Scooter Libby for obstruction of justice and perjury. The story claims that Fitzgerald is also seeking to indict Libby for violating the 1982 Agee law.

Regarding other indictments, they add the following:
Two other officials, who are not employees
in the White House, are also expected to
face indictments, the lawyers said.

And regarding the reported meeting between Fitzgerald and Luskin yesterday, the story reports:
Those close to the investigation said Rove was
offered a deal Tuesday to plead guilty to perjury
for a reduced charge. Rove’s lawyer was told
that Fitzgerald would drop an obstruction of
justice charge if his client agreed not to contest
allegations of perjury, they said.

Rove declined to plead guilty to the reduced
charge, the sources said, indicating through his
attorney Robert Luskin that he intended to
fight the charges.

How much should we trust this reporting? Well, until it's confirmed by a major media outlet, I'm going to remain somewhat skeptical. That said, Raw Story has a fairly good track record on this story, and this report does seem plausible given everything we know.

Two other officials facing indictment, very interesting.

Would someone in the State Department qualify as employees not in the WH? If not they must be CIA.

Harlow?

Polly,

If anyone in the CIA is indicted, I'll eat my laptop.

I almost said the same for State, but then I remembered the Bolton/Fleitz/etc. axis.

In any event, the VP's staff works out of the Executive Office Building, not the White House. So that may answe your question.

I wonder if this is related to the "two other officials"? I think it might.

New Rawstory

But his office was contacted late Tuesday by attorneys representing figures outside the White House, lawyers said, who expressed interest in entering into plea talks with the prosecutor. Several have agreed to enter into last-minute plea negotiations with Fitzgerald in exchange for providing testimony that could result in criminal charges being brought against additional officials inside the White House, they added.

Swopa,

I still think there is a chance Harlow is Novak's (who obviously has a very low threshold for confirmation) other administration source.
