Correction

Yesterday I stated that John Roberts belonged to the Federalist Society. Though his affiliation with the conservative group was widely reported, it is apparently not true. Roberts has never been a member of the Federalist Society. I'm not sure what to make of that fact. It could be an encouraging sign, an indication that he is more of a pragmatist than an ideologue. Then again, it could just indicate that he wanted, for professional reasons, to avoid that particular label. Who knows? Maybe someone will ask him during the confirmation hearings.
